Stratford
offers one of the most unique accommodation features in all
of North America. This is a Bed and Breakfast community. Hotels
and motels in Stratford have always struggled to supply rooms
year round to the knowledgeable tourist who expects a high
standard from both the accommodation sector and the Theatre.
As a result, ever since the Festival Theatre started in the
1950's the need of the traveler and theatre goer has been
met by the locals from their own homes. Stratford boasts having
many heritage and older lovely homes due in part to the wealth
the railways brought here earlier in the century. Maintaining
many of the beautiful homes in Stratford would be impossible
for the average homeowner, but it is the investment put in
by Bed and Breakfast/Guesthouse owners of the area that has
kept these fine homes looking as well now as they did over
a century ago. Now you ask yourself....should I stay at a
B&B or stay at a generic hotel built for the sole purpose
of profit?
I can't deny we get a living from our home but it is not a
get rich quick scheme. We do put our heart and soul into the
business. For those of you who have not stayed at a B&B
maybe you might consider the following few notes from our
experience here.....
1).When
checking in at a B&B we will usually remember you from
your last stay.
2).We will offer to take your luggage from your vehicle to
your room. You will not have to park 5 minutes away either!
3).We will endeavour to strike up a conversion to make you
feel at home or perhaps to make sure you have a reservation
at one of Stratford's great restaurants.
4). If you are new to the area we can give you tips on getting
around the town or to the local villages or even point you
in the direction of events going on in and around town you
might be interested in. We are very proficient at answering
your many questions and extolling the fine virtues of Stratford
or just simply giving out a good yarn or joke!
5). Breakfast and parking is always included
in the price of your room.
6). Breakfast is always worth getting up for. It is also served
to you and doesn't include scrambled eggs and bacon cooked
a day ago and sitting under heat lamps until it resembles
petrified stone.
7).We live here too, you are a guest in our home, not a stranger.
We hope you feel welcomed and part of our family whilst you
stay here.
8).you will not find dozens of teenagers running up and down
the corridors in the middle of the night setting off fire
alarms etc.
9).If you are not happy here, we will find somewhere that
will work for you, there are over a hundred B&B's in Stratford,
we are sure in some you will find a home away from home.
10). Finally, one last note, the B&B community tends to
work together to make Stratford a better place for all, local
and tourist, your staying here in Stratford is an investment
in our community, we thank you and we hope we can always strive
to increase your enjoyment each time you revisit Stratford.
To
stay at the Hotels or Motels..,...make sure you know what
you are getting. Concrete, Asphalt and generic art on walls
is not my cup of tea. Oh you can have that too (the Tea that
is- with home made cookies) in the afternoon....is that included
